What’s Involved

Suspension and steering components wear gradually, so problems often develop slowly. A car that used to ride smoothly may start feeling loose or noisy without a single dramatic event. At Mike's Foreign Auto, we inspect the full system to identify worn components and restore the ride quality your car was built to deliver.

  • Shock absorber and strut replacement
  • Power steering pump, rack, and hose repair
  • Control arm and bushing replacement
  • Ball joint and tie rod replacement
  • Self-leveling suspension diagnosis and repair for Mercedes-Benz
  • Alignment referral to trusted local specialists

Signs You May Need This

Your car feels bouncy, floaty, or unstable over bumps

You hear clunking or knocking sounds from the front or rear suspension

The steering wheel vibrates, pulls to one side, or feels loose

You notice uneven tire wear or the car sits lower on one side

What to Expect

Most suspension jobs completed in one day

Individual component replacements like shocks, struts, or control arms are typically completed within a day. Larger suspension overhauls or self-leveling system repairs may take one to two days. We recommend having the alignment checked after any suspension work, and we can refer you to a trusted local alignment shop.

We inspect the system thoroughly before quoting, so you know exactly what needs attention. Call us to describe what you are experiencing and we will give you a clear idea of the scope and cost. As a family-owned shop, we keep our pricing fair and more affordable than dealership rates.

German Car Expertise

Mercedes-Benz self-leveling rear suspension is one of our specialties. The hydropneumatic systems found in the W126 and W140 S-Class, and the Airmatic systems in newer models, require specific diagnostic knowledge and experience. Failing accumulator spheres, leaking struts, and worn level sensors are all issues we see and repair regularly.

BMW and Audi sport suspensions use model-specific components and geometry that affect handling and tire wear. Mike has been working with these systems since 1980 and understands the engineering behind the ride. We also welcome all other foreign makes and models.
